Hill Voice, 8 August 2026, Rangamati: The propaganda circulated by the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), alleging that Ferdous Chakma, a resident of Choto Komlak area under Sajek Union of Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati District, had been abducted by the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) from the “Same Place Restaurant” in Sajek tourist area, has ultimately been proven to be a false and fabricated incident.
Over the past two days, the UPDF widely circulated false and fabricated claims through various social media pages, alleging that Ferdous Chakma had been abducted by the PCJSS. However, local sources have confirmed that Ferdous Chakma is staying safely at his own home.
According to local and other sources, no abduction actually took place in Sajek. According to the UPDF’s claim, at around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, Ferdous Chakma was allegedly taken away by members of the PCJSS on a motorcycle from the “Same Place Restaurant” in Sajek.
Recently, several Facebook accounts associated with the UPDF, including “CHT Voice” and “Secret Reporter,” circulated this fabricated propaganda implicating the PCJSS. Through these allegations, attempts were allegedly made to tarnish the reputation of the PCJSS.
At one point, local residents themselves exposed what they described as the UPDF’s false propaganda. They stated that Ferdous Chakma, who had allegedly been abducted, was actually staying safely at his own home.
Ferdous Chakma himself told Hill Voice that, “Several days ago, I went to my father-in-law’s home in Bajechara village. From there, I went to the Sajek tourist area seeking employment and got a job at a restaurant called ‘Same Place Restaurant.’ However, I could not support my family on the low wages, so I returned to my village, Chhoto Komlak. No one abducted me. I am at home.”
Meanwhile, following the allegations that were widely circulated on Facebook, the Bangladesh Army reportedly began an investigation on its own initiative and went to Ferdous Chakma’s home. With the assistance of local residents, army personnel went to his house and found him there.
