Hill Voice, September 17, 2026, Special Correspondent: Anti-CHT Accord UPDF terrorists announced an indefinite ban on all types of vehicle movement in Sajek, Machalong Bazar, Ujo Bazar, Baghaihat Bazar, tourist area and Udaipur Road of Baghaichari Upazila of Rangamati from 5 September 2026.
However, it is reported that local transport owners, drivers and the general public have ignored those instructions and continued to operate vehicles normally.
Meanwhile, the UPDF is forcing the villagers of Egujjechari, No. 7 area, No. 8 area, Gangaram and Bridgepara, among the villages adjacent to Machalong Bazar, not to provide assistance to the people supporter of CHT Accord. They have been threatened with eviction from the area and direct shooting if they provide any assistance. This has also created extreme fear and anxiety among the villagers of the said villages.
According to local sources, the active role of several armed commanders of the UPDF behind these threats and terrorist activities has emerged. Among them are the so-called Company Commander Ranjan Moni Chakma alias Ade; Platoon Commander Supon Chakma alias Roni; Section Commander Ripon Chakma alias Janam; Platoon Commander Goppo Chakma alias Biplob; Section Commander Baneshwar Chakma alias Dhaneshwar.
Locals claim that the normal life and livelihood of ordinary Jummas are under serious threat due to such terrorist activities and armed threats by the UPDF.
