Hill Voice, 11 October 2020, Rangamati: A 40-year-old Marma woman who was mentally unbalanced was raped at night in a market shed south of Karigar Para Bazar in Raikhali Union of Kaptai upazila in Rangamati district. Chandraghona police have arrested a 27-year-old man named Abu Taleb Saddam for raping of this mentally unbalanced Marma woman.
He was arrested from Raikhali’s Dongnala on 11 October 2020 Saturday at 5.30 pm.
According to the local sources, Abu Taleb Saddam, son of Abdus Salam raped a mentally unbalanced Jumma Marma woman showing temptation in the early hours of October 9 in front of Kanchan Chowdhury’s abandoned house adjacent to the market shed in the south of Karigar Para Bazaar. Then the accused Md. Abu Taleb Saddam fled.
The victim’s elder sister filed a case against Saddam under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Chandraghona Police Station.
Confirming the incident Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said that the elder sister of the victim has filed a case under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against Md. Abu Taleb Saddam. After that, the police conducted a special operation and arrested him from Dongnala area at 5.30 pm on Saturday. He was sent to Rangamati Judge court on Sunday morning.
