Hill Voice, 12 November 2023, Kaptai : It has been reported that an army commander has drived away students from the hill hostel located in Narangiri Mukhpara area of Raikhali Union of Kaptai Upazila under Rangamati District. The hostel is currently closed.
It is known from local sources that on October 1, 2023, Raikhali Narangiri Army Camp Commander Lt. Quddus under Kaptai Zone of 56 Bengal drove away 20/25 Jumma students from the hill stident hostel located in Raikhali Narangiri area.
Isuisoye Chowdhury (Mishuk), headman of Raikhali Mauza, supervisor of the hostel, said that many hill students from remote areas of the region stay there and study for SSC, HSC and degrees in various schools and colleges. Suddenly there is an order from the camp commander that no one can stay in the hostel. Hostel gates must be locked. The camp commander alleged that the students in the hostel were sending messages to the terrorists in various ways.
He opined that it is actually a ploy to deprive innocent students of education. Depriving these innocent students of education by the army has created anger in the area and the residents have demanded immediate withdrawal of the camp for the sake of peace.
