Hill Voice, 29 December 2023, Rangamati: It has been alleged that patrol operation was conducted by army in Kengrachari union of Bilaichahri upazila under Rangamati hill district. During the operation at least 4 houses were searched causing widespread fear and panic in the locals.
The victims were identified as 1. Kinadhan Chakma (35), son of- Purna Lal Chakma, 2. Purna Lal Chakma, son of- Unknown, 3. Dayalal Chakma (65), son of late Rupadhan Chakma and 4. Nakasya Chakma (50), son of- Nila Mohan Chakma.
According to local source, on Wednesday (December 27), a group of army numbering 30 personnel led by a captain of 32 Bir of Bilaichari Zone under Rangamati stationed at Begenachari Government Primary School of Kengrachari union.
The next day (Thursday, December 28) around 11:00 AM, the said 4 Jumma houses were reportedly conducted an intensive search by army at Bharattachara village of Naraichari under Ward No. 5 in Kengrachari union.
It is reported that the army also allegedly searched the houses of the said persons before this time. The frequent searches led the victims along with the locals passing days in terrible fright.
