Hill Voice, 4 March 2020, Khagrachari: On 4 March 2020, a 15-year old Marma girl was raped by a Bengali Muslim settler named Md. Abdul Mannan alias Manu Mian (21) at Beltola-Borokheda pf Ramgarh Union under Ramgarh Upazila in Khagrachari district. It is known that Owapru Marma, mother of victim filed a case with Ramgarh Police Station in the evening on 5 March. The victim was sent to Khagrachari General Hospital for medical check up on 6 March. In primary check up, a few signs including a stain of holding her neck was found. But, the police did not arrest the accused Manu Mian yet.
It is learnt that on that day at 2:00 PM the girl was forcefully taken to nearby jungle when she was alone at home in Beltola-Borokheda area. The culprit raped her and fled keeping her senseless. After a long time, at mid-night, the girl shouted and started walking for home when she got back her sense. The family members rescued then after hearing her shouts.
It is known that the victim’s parents went to market on that day. After coming back home, they did not see their girl and informed nearby relatives.
The accused Md. Abdul Mannan alias Manu Mian son of Alfaj Uddin is an inhabitant of Muslim Para which is near Beltola-Borokheda. But they are living at Bolturamtila Islampur under Ward No. 1 of Ramgarh Municipality.
