4 Jummas abducted by army and army-backed terrorists in Rangamati

Hill Voice, 23 November 2021, Rangamati: Four innocent Jumma villagers have been abducted from their homes by Army and Army-backed UPDF (Democratic) terrorists in Jibtali of Rangamati Sadar Upazila of Rangamati District.

The abducted villagers are – 1. Sajib Chakma (26), son of Shubhlal Chakma, businessman (tea and grocery shopkeeper in the village), 2. Akash Chakma (32), son of Barun Karbari, President, Juba Samity, Jibtali Union Branch, 3. Sujan Chakma (19), son of late Niger Mani Chakma, student (2nd year student of HSC studying at Karnafuli Degree College), 4. Nayan Chakma (19), son of Krishna Baran Chakma, student of Kaptai Swedish academy, address of all abductees: Dhalyachari of Ward No. 9 under Jibtali union.

According to local sources, on 22 November 2021 (Monday) at 1:00 am, two group of army led by Captain Md. Mahbub of Gabaghona army camp and Subedar Md. Riaz of S-Band army camo of 7 RE Bengal under Jibtali army zone, and army and local Awami League-backed terrorists kidnapped aforesaid innocent villagers in the name of searching of illegal armed miscreants.

There were also reports of threats, intimidation and harassment of people in the house. No trace of where the villagers were taken or kept after the abduction has been knwon.

Army-backed UPDF (Democratic) extortionists, murderers and armed terrorists namely 1. Adhir Chakma, 2. Hegera Chakma, son of late Kalishankar Chakma, village Jibatali Chairman Para, 3. Bachchu Chakma, son of Lakshimoy Chakma, village Jibtali Chairman Para were with the army during the search operation.

On the other hand, on 22 November 2021 at 10 o’clock in the morning, an army of 20/22 soldiers from Rajmoni Para (Marichya Bill) Army Camp of Balukhali Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila in Balukhali Union went to Kharikshyong village and surrounded house of Prabhat Chakma in the morning. It is learnt that after entering the house and conducting a search, the army left the village for their camp without telling anyone.
