Two Tripura youths beaten by army in Rowangchari

Hill Voice, 9 December 2020, Bandarban: It has been alleged that two indigenous Tripura youths of Antaha Tripura Para village in Ward 2 of Noyapatang Union in Rowangchari upazila of Bandarban district have been severely beaten by the army. The incident took place at around 6:00 pm on November 8, 2020.

The victims were identified as Abraham Tripura (23), son of Pandiram Tripura and Albindu Tripura (19), son of Yogyamoni Tripura.

According to local sources, a group of army personnel led by Subedar Fazlul from Antaha Para Army Camp on their way back from patrolling yesterday grabbed two youths drinking tea at a tea shop in Antaha Para and beat them severely in a corner next to the shop. While beating, the members of the army started saying, there are terrorists in your village. You do not tell us. They also interrogated various questions and threatened the youths.

Half an hour after the beating, the two young men were released.
