Two persons abducted in Rangamati by army-backed armed terrorists

Hill Voice, 15 May 2020, Rangamati:  Army-backed Reformist and UPDF (Democratic) armed terrorists have allegedly abducted two innocent persons, one from Rangunia’s Ranirhat area in Chittagong bordering Rangamati district and another from Baghaichhari upazila.

Baghaichhari correspondent reported that Today on May 16, 2020, Saturday morning, an innocent person named Jidong Chakma alias Darhi (45) was abducted by army-backed Reformists and UPDF (Democratic) terrorists from Karengatli Bazar in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati district.

The abducted Jidang Chakma is the son of late Surendra Chakma of Ugalchhari village in Bangaltali union.

It is learnt that a group of 7/8 Reformists and UPDF (Democratic) terrorists led by Manishi Chakma went to Karengatali bazar under the protection of security forces and abducted Jidong Chakma at 7.30 am today from the market.

The abductee has not been released till the writing of this report.

On the other hand, according to local sources, on May 14, 2020, Thursday around noon, a group of Reformist and UPDF (Democratic) terrorists abducted Tapan Chakma (35), a Jumma male nurse, at gunpoint from a paharika bus counter in Ranirhat of Rangunia upazila in Chittagong district.

The abductee Tapan Chakma was working as a senior nurse at the Upazila Government Hospital in Barkal Upazila under Rangamati Hill District. Tapan Chakma’s home is in Baradam village of Rangamati Sadar upazila and his father’s name is Jibansukhi Chakma.

After the abduction, the terrorists demanded Tk 15 lakh as ransom from Tapan Chakma’s family. Later, it was reported that the terrorists released Tapan Chakma in exchange for a heavy amount of ransom.
