Rangamati Army Brigade releases Birajit after 8 days of detention who was held by terrorists in Jibtali

Hill Voice, 15 August 2020, Rangamati: It has been reported that today Rangamati Army Brigade headquarters has released on condition Birajit Chakma who was recently detained by army-backed Reformists and UPDF-Democratic terrorists from Chairman Para of Jibtali union of Rangamati.

Birajit Chakma has been released after 8 days of detention unlawfully and without committing any crime.

It has been learnt that today (15 August 2020) at about 12:00 am authority of Army Brigade released Birajit Chakma on condition and handed over to Rupayan Chakma, Headman of No.118 Dhanpata Mouza, Birajit’s father Sabinal Chakma, Nirmal Chakma and Mayuribala Chakma as bailers.

The conditions imposed on Birajit by one army commander are as follows-1. To take order of a religious mendicant to any Buddhist temple for some days; 2. Not to use any mobile phone; and 3. Not to visit frequently without any reason.

It is worth mentioning that on 6 August 2020 at 7:00 am Reformists and UPDF-Democratic terrorists detained a carpenter Birajit Chakma (26), son of Sabinol Chakma from their check-post set up at Chairman Para of Jibtali union of Sadar upazila of Rangamati district. At that time Birajit Chakma war returning to his village Panchari from nearby village Dhanpata by trawler boat with other passengers after doing his carpentry works.

At that time, the terrorists snatched the mobile phone from Birajit Chakma and took him to their place detaining. Later at about 10:00 pm a group of terrorists took Birajit Chakma to the Goboghona army camp and handed over him to the army.

Later when made a contact with the army by the victim side, the army said that they will release Birajit Chakma if the Reformists and UPDF-Democratic say to release him.
