Hill Voice, 11 August 2020, Rajshahi: An attempt to rape an indigenous woman has been made in Itahari village of Gogram union in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district. The miscreants reportedly beat up two people, including an indigenous woman, and seriously injured them as they tried to stop the rape attempt.
According to local sources, on 8 August 2020, at around 10.30 pm, Zahirul Islam (45) of the same village entered the house of an indigenous woman and tried to rape her. When the indigenous woman shouted, the villagers grabbed Zahirul Islam and detained him.
Later, Zahirul Islam’s men forcibly took him away from the indigenous villagers. It is to be noted that Zahirul Islam used to try to molest that indigenous woman for some time.
On 9 August 2020, that indigenous women lodged a complaint with Godagari police station. On the same day, a group of 10-12 terrorists led by Zahir’s son Jabbar beat Motilal Murari (22), the brother-in-law of the indigenous woman, and his wife Rita Rani Murari with sticks.
The injured Motilal Murari and Rita Rani Murari are currently undergoing treatment at Premtali Health Center. Police have not yet arrested any accused in the incident.
