Hill Voice, 10 September 2019, CU:  The final match and prize giving ceremony of Mongchasing Marma Memorial Football Tournament was held on 10 September 2019 in Chittagong University (CU) central field. The program was conducted by Kriti Chakma, general secretary of PCP in CU unit and presided over by Mintu Chakma, president, PCP, CU unit where Dr. Md. Saidul Islam, associate professor of Bio-chemistry was present as chief guest. The special guests were Mongwei Ching Marma, general secretary of PCP, Chittagong metropolitan unit; Santosh Chakma, acting general secretary of Pahari Shramik Kalyan Forum; Nayan Tripura, president of Tripura Students’ Forum, Chittagong Metropolitan unit. The program started with paying tribute/respect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Jummas and our existence. And then, the convener of the tournament and information, publicity and publication secretary of PCP, CU unit Rumen Chakma delivered his inaugural speech.

The final match was played between the team `Incredible’ (2017-2018 session) and the team `Evergreen’ (2013-2014 session) where the Incredible captain Mongchaisa Marma scored a goal and finally the team Incredible won the match. The team Incredible won the trophy for second times. The guests distributed the champion trophy to the champion team and the runner up trophy to the runner up team. Tomy Tripura of Evergreen team as the player of the tournament; striker Thowaichinu Marma of Evergreen as best scorer; goalkeeper Sushovan Dewan of Incredible team as best goalkeeper and Prenchung Mro of Incredible as man of the match were declared in the program.

Chief guest Dr. Md. Saidul Islam in his speech said that the importance of sports is essential to build our life perfect. Everyone should practise in sports for mental and physical growth. After all, we all should be a progressive minded for better future and of course a good student because an educated person could work for his/her country and nation. He also added that these educated and aware students could contribute to resolve the CHT crisis.

The special guests in their speech focused on making brotherhood, progressiveness, norms & values among students organising such kinds of programs. To know Mongchasing Marma and his sacrifice for the society is also important to students. Students should have the commitment for their roots.

It is worth mentioning that Mongchasing Marma was an active PCP member in Kaptai Suidish Polytechnic Institute. On 20 May 2012, after the program of PCP’s founding anniversary, he along with his friends were waiting at Kallyanpur Petrol Pump area for other friends to return at Kaptai. Suddenly, a grenade was thrown from a CNG to them and a few including Mongchasing Marma dangerously injured in this sudden brutal attack. They all were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. But, Mongchasing Marma died three days later. To pay respect to him, PCP, Chittagong University unit had been conducting this football tournament since 2012.
