Hill Voice, 29 October 2023, Khagrachari: A Jumma woman was raped by three Muslim settlers on her way home from Gachabil of Manikachari upazila under Khagrachari district. Being plaintiff, the victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Child Torture Prevention Act (Amendment 2020), 9 (1)/30, Case No- 14/23 with Manikchari Police Station.
The victim’s father said my daughter left her rented house for home by bus on holiday leaves yesterday. Around 1 pm, she got down at Mohamuni bus stand and went to Manikchari bazar from Mohamuni to buy something for home. Then, she came to Gachabil bazar by a battery powered easy bike around 2 pm and from the bazar she was on way home on foot. On the way, when my daughter reached near the Belal Moral Plantation- 500 yards eastern side of Bandary shop, Purbapara of Gachabil ward no 2, Manikchari Union of Manikchari Upazial- she saw 3 unknown persons standing on the road side.
Around 2.15 pm, an unknown defendant wearing pant grabbed my daughter by face and dragged her inside the Belal Moral plantation. And another two unknown persons- one wearing pant and the other lungi- felled her by force on the ground grabbing her legs and hands and raped her.
As per Muktadhar of Khagrachari police, within 24 hours of the occurrence, the three accused- Md Shah Ali, Mizanur Rahman, Md Hossain Ali were arrested for the Gangrape case.
