Hill Voice, 1 August 2020, Dhaka: Financial assistance has been provided to the Garo owners of beauty parlors, who were financially affected by the Corona epidemic, by the Garo community organization Nakmandi. The payment was made on Friday (July 31) morning in the hall room of Nakmandi Community Center in Tejgaon of Dhaka city.
The condition of Garo Beauty Parlor owners in Corona is extremely deplorable. The parlors have been closed for about three months and the house-office rent is in arrears. Pratap Rema, co-ordinator of Nakmandi, said that the organisation had provided financial assistance to the financially devastated Garo Beauty Parlor owners in the first phase.
He added, “We have a list of more than 120 Garo beauty parlor owners. We have tried our best to stand by the owners of 10 Garo Beauty Parlors in the first phase. We will try to help the rest by phases. The financial aid recipients will be able to repay the money in installments after the next three months without any interest, the official said.
Poet and writer Theophil Nisharan Nakrek, President of Nakmandi, and Alexius Chicham, General Secretary, were also present along with the owner of Garo Beauty Parlor.
