Hill Voice, 20 June 2020, Bandarban: Buddhasen Tanchangya (45) who was picked up from Balaghata area of Bandarban Sadar Upazila under Bandarban District by some people of the Intelligence Department the day before yesterday, is now in the custody of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.
According to the family sources of the victim, after picking up, Buddhasen Tanchangya was severely beaten by the intelligence and army personnel.
It is learnt that today 20th June 2020 Saturday in the night at around 1:30 am, the police of Bandarban Sadar Police Station informed a brother of victim named Melonsen Tanchangya over cellphone that Buddhasen Tanchangya was in their custody.
Later at around 8:00 am, Buddhasen Tanchangya’s wife and family members went to Bandarban Sadar Police Station and met the arrested Buddhasen Tanchangya. At that time, the family members requested the police to release Buddhasen Tanchangya.
But the police expressed inability to release him on the grounds that their senior officer was not present. Then the family members of Buddhasen Tanchangya returned home.
It is to be mentioned that on 18 June 2020, at around 8:00 am, some people from the intelligence department picked up Buddhasen Tanchangya, son of Dwibaratan Tanchangya from Balaghata area of Bandarban Sadar Upazila by a CNG taxi.
Later, Buddhasen Tanchangya’s wife and family members went to the Bandarban Sadar Police Station to search for him, but the police said they did not know about the incident.
It is learnt that after picking up, intelligence personnel detained Buddhasen Tanchangya in a hideout. There, Buddhasen Tanchangya was blindfolded and severely beaten by the intelligence personnel.
Then, on 20 June 2020, at around 1:00 am, the members of the intelligence service left Buddhasen Tanchangya near the Balaghata Cotton Development Board office closed to his house and asked him to leave.
But soon after that, a police vehicle came there and the police took Buddhasen Tanchangya to Bandarban Sadar Police Station. The arrested Buddhasen Tanchangya is an innocent farmer.
At the last, it is learnt that the victim has been produced in the Bandarban Magistrate’s Court. The arrested Buddhasen Tanchangya has falsely been entangled in the incident of killing of Chaina Chahla Marma on the night of 15 June 2020.
