7 Idols vandalized in Fulbaria, one arrested

Hill Voice, 20 June 2020, Mymensingh: A Muslim youth has allegedly vandalized seven idols of the Sri Sri Hari Mandir at Putijana Namapara village of Putijana union under Fulbaria upazila in Mymensingh district. Rana Mia (18) was arrested by Fulbaria police in the incident.

It is learnt that on 20 June 2020 Saturday, Renu Bala, a priest of Sri Sri Hari Mandir of Putijana Namapara village opened the Kechi Gate and cleaned the temple as usual. At that time, finding the Kechi gate opened, a college student named Rana Mian, son of Abul Hossain of the same village, entered the temple and vandalized a total of seven idols, including Radhakrishna and Panchatathya Yogal idols which were made for Rush Puja.

Soon after observing it, the priest Renu Bala started shouting and the people around temple came and arrested Rana Mian. After informing the police, the police arrested him from the spot. According to locals, Rana Mian, who vandalized the idol, has some mental problems.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (Trishal Circle) Swagata Bhattacharya said, “I have heard about the incident. I have sent OC of Phulbaria to the spot. If necessary, I will go.”

Admitting the truth of the incident, Inspector of Police (Investigation) of Fulbaria Police Station Sheikh Zahirul Haque Munna said, “I am a little busy with this matter. I will tell you everything after an arrest.” The case is in process.
