Hill Voice, Friday, June 19, 2020: As of 19 June 2020, a total of 1,02,292 people have been infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19), 1,343 have died and 40,174 have recovered. Of them, a total of 371 people have been infected with corona and 131 have recovered in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). A total of 4 people including children died. Among the positive cases, 148 are in Rangamati district, 115 in Khagrachhari and 109 in Bandarban district.
Rangamati District:
According to the Civil Surgeon’s Office in Rangamati district, a total of 146 people have been infected with coronavirus in the district so far and 66 have recovered, 23 are in isolation and 4 including children have died.
In the Rangamati districts, Rangamati Sadar upazila has the highest number of 86 affected people. In Kaptai upazila 28 people were infected, in Kaukhali upazila 11 people were infected, in Rajasthali 2 people were reported infected, in Longadu upazila 5 people were infected, in Jurachhari upazila 6 people were infected, in Bilaichhari upazila 2 people were infected and in Naniarchar upazila 2 people and 4 people have been infected in Baghaichhari upazila.
In Rangamati district, 60 people were infected in 25 days in May (May 6 to May 31) and 86 in 19 days in June (June 1-19). An average of 2.4 people were infected per day in May and an average of 4.5 people per day in June. In Rangamati district, an average of 2 more people were infected every day in June than May. This means that the infection rate has increased by about 87% more in June than May.
In Rangamati district, on the other hand, 11 people were infected in the first week of June, 34 in the second week and 41 in the first four days of the third week. This means that the number of positive cases of Rangamati district is alarmingly increasing day by day, which is very worrying.
On 19 May, a total of 17 people were infected with coronavirus in Rangamati Sadar Upazila in the last 24 hours.

Khagrachhari District:
The total number of infected people with coronavirus in Khagrachhari district is 115 and 33 people have recovered. Among them 38 in Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila, 9 in Mahalchhari Upazila, 7 in Matiranga Upazila, 5 in Dighinala Upazila, 2 in Panchhari Upazila, 12 in Manikchhari Upazila and 19 in Ramgarh Upazila.
The first corona patient (1 person) was identified in Khagrachhari on April 29 in Dighinala upazila. In Khagrachhari district, 33 people have been infected in 19 days (May 13 to May 31) and 81 people in 19 days (June 1-19) in June. An average of 1.7 people were infected per day in May and an average of 4.3 people per day in June. In Khagrachhari district, an average of 2.6 more people were infected every day in June than May.
This means that the infection rate with coronavirus has increased by about 153% more in June than May. This means that the number of corona positive cases in Khagrachhari district is increasing day by day, which is undoubtedly extremely worrying.

The first corona patient was identified in Khagrachhari district on April 29 in Dighinala upazila. 3 people were infected on 13th May, 1 person was infected on 14th May (Panchhari, Latiban), 6 people were infected on 21st May, 7 people were infected on 23rd May, 9 people were infected with corona on 26th May, 2 people were infected on 27th May, 5 new corona positive were identified on 31st May.
10 new corona positive were infected on 8 June, 9 people were infected on June 9, a total of 25 people were infected in Khagrachhari on June 13, 8 new corona were identified in Khagrachhari district headquarters on June 14, 8 people were infected on June 15, 10 people were infected in Khagrachhari Sadar on 17 June, 11 people were newly infected on 18 June.
Bandarban District:
In Bandarban district, coronavirus positive was first detected in Ghumdhum union of Naikhyongchhari upazila on April 16, 2020. In Bandarban district so far a total of 109 people have been infected and 32 have recovered.
Among the corona positive are 2 in Alikadam Upazila, 14 including children in Lama Upazila, 10 including a child in Naikhyongchhari Upazila, 3 in Thanchi Upazila and 70 in Bandarban Sadar Upazila, 9 in Ruma Upazila and 1 in Rowangchhari Upazila.
