An indigenous schoolgirl raped in Chunarughat

Hill Voice, 21 September 2020, Habiganj: It is reported that an indigenous schoolgirl from Chunarughat Nalua Tea Garden in Habiganj has been raped. The incident took place on 11 September 2020 Friday afternoon. The raped indigenous schoolgirl is a ninth-grade student of Moulvibazar Kulaura Camelli Duncan Foundation School.

The student’s elder sister filed a case against a soldier of the air force Khokon Bhowmik (25), son of late Nibaran Bhowmik of the same garden and a soldier of the army Biswajit Bhowmik (24), son of late Sagar Bhowmik at the Chunarughat police station on 20 September 2020 Sunday.

It is learnt that the schoolgirl moved from Kulaura to his father’s house in Nalua tea garden as the school was closed due to the pandemic coronavirus. On Friday afternoon, Khokon took her to his house to do his homework.

As there were no people in the house, Khokon raped her with the help of his friend Biswajit. The raped schoolgirl kept the matter a secret out of public shame and fear. Later, when she fell ill, she told her elder sister Lucky about the rape. Later on, 17 September, she was admitted to Habiganj Modern Hospital.

In this regard, Inspector (Investigation) of Chunarughat Police Station Champak Dham said that a case has been filed against the two persons for rape with Chunarughat Police Station. The scene has been inspected after the case was filed. Every effort is being made to arrest the accused.
