A Juba Samiti activist detained by army in Bilaichari

Hill Voice, 8 January 2021, Rangamati: It has been alleged that Ranjit Kumar Chakma (48), vice-president of Farua Union Committee of Parbatya Chattagram Juba Samiti (CHT Youth Association) of Bilaichari Upazila under Rangamati Hill District has been detained by the army without a warrant.

Yesterday on 8 January 2021 at 3:30 am a group of army personnel from the Farua Bazar sub-zone arrested Ranjit Kumar Chakma from his house in Egujjachari village of Farua and took him to the camp.

The army did not say why Ranjit Kumar Chakma was detained. Even Ranjit Kumar’s family does not know the reason for his arrest.

It is learnt that the detainee was brought to Dighalchari Army Zone of Bilaichari Sadar today (8 January 2021) at around 4:00 pm. After that the army handed over the detainee to the Bilaichari police station at around 5:35 pm.
