A CU Jumma student abducted by Reformists in Khagrachari, released later

Hill Voice, 24 April 2020, Khagrachari:  A Jumma student of Chittagong University (CU) named Arpan Chakma was allegedly reported to have been kidnapped in Bhaibonchara ares in Khagrachari dictrict.

It is learnt that on 23 April 2020 at around 7:30 pm a group of army-backed Reformist armed terrorists has allegedly abducted a Jumma student of Chittagong University named Arpan Chakma (24) from his own house at village of Robijoy Para of Bhaibonchara union under Sadar upazila of Khagrachari Hill District. Exact motive of abduction is yet to be known.

As the class of University was suspended due to pandemic coronavirus, Arpan Chakma recently came back to his own village-house. From there, army-backed Reformist miscreants abducted him. It is reported that after abduction, miscreants demanded Taka 5 lakhs for ransom.

The terrorists released the abducted Arpan Chakma on the condition of paying a ransom of Tk one lakh by 30 April. It was confirmed that he was released on 24 April Friday at noon.

Meanwhile, lockdown is going on in the country due to coronavirus epidemic. In this situation, Arpan’s parents are worried about how to collect Taka one lakh in a week.
