4 innocent Jummas arrested by the army in Sajek

Hill Voice, 26 December 2020, Rangamati: The army arrested four Jumma people at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Sajek Union of Rangamati district.

The detainees have been identified as 1. Binoy Chakma (45) former UP member, son ofBijoy Kumar Chakma, from Baibachhara; 2. Anil Chandra Chakma (40), son of Adeye Chakma, from Baibachhara; 3. Batte Chakma (45), son ofDuleye Chakma, from Gulakmachhara and 4. Smritimoy Chakma (35) fromGulkmachhara.

According to local sources, on their way home from the market yesterday afternoon, at around 4:00 pm, the army of the Chhodogichhara Musfiq camp stopped the vehicle and conducted a search. At that time, the army held the four innocent Jumma people and kept them in the camp.

At the same time, two persons with motorcycle named Chadak Chakma (26), son of Sumati Lal Chakma and Babudhan Chakma (26), son of Prananath Chakma were also apprehended but later released.

It is learnt that four villagers were handed over to Sajek police station at 12:00 last night after the arrest. They were sent to the Rangamati District Judge’s Court on Sunday morning, police sources said.
