2 innocent Jumma villagers picked up by army from Mogban in Rangamati

Hill Voice, 6 August 2020, Rangamati: It has been alleged that two innocent Jumma villagers were picked up by the army from Moroghona village of Mogban union in Rangamati Sadar upazila.

According to local sources, on 5 August 2020 Wednesday at around 11.00 pm Sonadhan Chakma (22), a resident of Moroghona village, was abducted by a group of army comprising 10/15 soldiers from Boradam Deppochari army camp in Mogban Union. Sonadhan Chakma Morghona is a shopkeeper in the nearby Smriti Mandir area near Moroghona.

On the other hand, today, 6 August 2020 Thursday at 6.00 am, Chikko Chakma (45) of the same village, son of late Chinta Horon Chakma was picked up from his own house in Deppochari viilage. Chikko Chakma is said to be a tea shopkeeper and runs a household by selling tea.

Biswajit Chakma, Chairman of Mogban union, Dipuran Chakma, Member of Ward No. 5 of the same union and Anupam Karbari (Sudhir), Karbari of local village, went to Boradam Deppochari camp at around 10.30 am today to search for the detainees.

The commander in charge of the camp made it clear that the detainees are extortionist and in regular contact with the PCJSS. The camp commander said it was not possible to release them.

It is unknown at this time where two detainees are kept. The members of the detainees expressed their extreme concern about the life and security of them. Local sources said that it has not been handed over to the police yet.
