House search, brush fire by army-backed Reformist again in Baghaichhari

Hill Voice, 21 May 2020, Rangamati:  It has been alleged that brushfire has been carried out again in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati district in the darkness of night at one-week interval. This has spread extreme panic among the local villagers.

On May 20, 2020 Wednesday at around 8.30 pm, six members of the army-backed Reformist group came by motorcycle and searched the house of Sadhan Purna Chakma alias Boli Bap, 49, son of late Biro Bahu Chakma of Nalbania village in Khedarmara union of Baghaichhari upazila.

Sadhan Purna Chakma is known as a contractor. According to locals, the attack was carried out with the intention of abducting Sadhan Purna Chakma. Failing to grab him, the Reformists took away all the mobile phones of his family members.

It is learnt that the terrorists fired 8/9 rounds of blank shots while they were returning towards the Upazila Sadar by the motorcycle.

Earlier, on May 13, at 8.30 pm, Reformist armed terrorists fired 7/8 rounds of bullets at the No. 1 Rubber Bagan area in Talukdar Para of same upazila.

Then on the morning of 16 May 2020, terrorists abducted an innocent person named Jidong Chakma from Kerengatali Bazar of the upazila. The terrorist later released him in exchange for ransom.

According to a local villager, the Reformists, with the help of the army, have been carrying out one after another misdeed in Baghaichhari upazila.
