Hill Voice, 21 October 2021: It is reported that an Indigenous Santal woman has been raped at Bagha in Rajshahi by a Muslim neighbor. The incident took place at Digha Thakurpara village in Bagha upazila under Rajshahi on Monday night.
According to local sources, the indigenous Santal woman, who was raped on Monday, was grazing ducks on the day of the incident. At that time, a man named Belal Hossain called her to his house and raped her there.
However, denying the allegations, Belal Hossain said that he had just called her home as a neighbor.
The woman’s husband filed a case against Belal Hossain with Bagha police station on Monday night.
Officer-in-Charge of Bagha Police Station, Sajjad Hossain, said the woman was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for medical examination. Belal is currently on the run.
