Hill Voice, 17 July 2022, Dhaka: Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad held a gathering and protest rally demanding implementation of the promises given in the ruling party’s manifesto on the eve of the national parliament election.  The rally was held at the central Shaheed Minar square and later the organization brought out a protest rally yesterday on July 16 (Saturday) at 3.30 pm.

Taking part in the rally, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury said that the way in 1971 the Pakistani invasion forces, Razakars, Albadars attacked our houses, tortured our mothers and sisters, destroyed business establishments the attacks were done in same way in Narail yesterday.

He said, sad to say that this current pro-liberation war government seems to have lost its way after coming to power in 2009 with a huge vote. It wasn’t meant to be. They have been holding office for 13 years but could not make a humanitarian state! He asked the government what does this mean.

He also said that our respected leader Obaidul Quader says two things, one is crow and another is hybrid. Now, I see it is there all crows and all hybrids are in the government. If not, how all the incidents happen at the tip of the nose of OC, TNO and DC! It’s like we’re back in Pakistan. The ghost of Pakistan is sitting on our neck.

Ushatan Talukder, one of presidents of the organization and vice-president of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti said, ‘We had to stand at Shaheed Minar today. This cannot be expected where a minority-friendly government and a government with spirit of liberation war is in power. So speaking with grief and shame, it was unspected to us. He questioned why we have to waste this time even though this government is in power.

He also said that today incidents like Narail have become a common phenomenon.  The fundamentalists and communal minded people will attack and set fire to houses whenever they want.  It has become a game for them.

Regarding the Chittagong Hill Tracts affairs, he said that on the 22nd of last month the settlers set fire to 37 houses without any provocation in Jaisenpara of Maischari area in Khagrachari district. Many houses were vandalized and looted. But there the administration told the people of the area that nothing could be exposed about it. This is the factual situation in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Central leaders of Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad addressed the protest rally. After the gathering, the organization brought out a procession.

It is to be noted that in Dighalia area of Lohagara upazila in Narail, Hindu houses were set on fire, attacked and vandalized centering a post on Facebook raising allegation of insulting the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad. Agitated people vandalized several shops and set fire to a house of Hindu people after Friday evening. Then a temple was vandalized. Two other family temples were also attacked. The police resorted to baton and fired blank shots to control the situation. The situation came under control after 9:30 pm.
