Hill Voice, 13 October 2021, Bandarban: It has been alleged that an innocent Jumma neighbor was attacked by some Muslim Bengalis for cleaning pork in a nearby jhiri (stream) in Lama Municipality area of Lama Upazila under Bandarban Hill District. He was reportedly seriously injured in the attack.
The victim has been identified as Uchain Wan Marma (50), Master Para, Ward No. 8, Lama Municipal Area.
According to local sources, on the morning of October 13, 2021, Uchain Wan Marma cleaned the pork in the neighboring jhiri. At that time, Anwar Hossain (40) and Jahedul Islam (35), driver of Tomtom (engine-driven auto-rickshaw) and neighbors of Master Para area, abused Uchain Wan Marma. At this time both sides were engaged in arguments.
Later, at around 4:00 pm, a group of Muslim Bengalis, including Anwar Hossain and Jahedul Islam, entered the house of Uchain Wan Marma and beat him severely. It injured the head and body of Uchain Wan Marma.
Later, Uchain Wan Marma went to the Lama Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
At the time of writing, the administration has not taken any action against the attackers.
