Hill Voice, 15 July 2022, Bandarban: It has been alleged that an innocent Jumma villager named Shoisingmong Marma (40), son of Khyidung Marma in No. 6 Jamchari Union of Sadar Upazila under Bandarban Hill District was killed brutally by a group of miscreants by slitting his throat.
The murder took place at the victim’s house in Baghmara Headman Para of Ward No. 4 of Jamchari Union today (July 15, 2022) at around 2:30 am.
It is learnt that the victim Shoisingmong Marma’s father’s house is in Dardari Noapara village of Rupashi Para union of Lama Upazila. About 20 years ago, he came from his home of Rupashi Para union of Lama Upazila and has been living with his wife and children at his father-in-law’s house being as a son-in-law in Baghmara Headman Para of Jamchari. He is a sharecropper and part-time electrician by profession.
According to local sources, around 2:15 am to 2:30 am when Shoisingmong Marma woke up to urinate, some assailants entered into his house and brutally strangled Shoisingmong Marma with sharp weapons and left the scene.
The deceased Shoisingmong Marma’s wife Umanue Marma (36) said, ‘3 masked men entered into the house at late night and killed her husband by slitting his throat.’ It is said that Shoisingmong Marma lived with his wife and their two daughters in the house. Immediately after the incident, Umanue Marma took refuge with her two children in a neighbor’s house out of fear.
It is learnt that the police recovered the throat-slit body of Shoisingmong Marma at around 10:00 am today and took it to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
It is to be noted that the house of Headman Mongpu Marma, the president of the Bandarban district branch of the UPDF (Democratic) is also in the village where Shoisingmong Marma was killed.
Police have not been able to make any arrests till writing this report.
