Jumma girl attempted to rape by Bengali settler in Panchhari


Hill Voice, 9 September 2020, Khagrachari: A Tripura girl was allegedly attempted to rape by two Bengali settlers in Maratila area of ​​Panchhari upazila under Khagrachhari district.

The incident took place at around 3:00 pm on September 6, 2020 in Kewa Para village on the Panchhari-Matiranga border.

According to local sources, when the Tripura girl went to the forest near her house to fetch cows, two young Bengali settlers grabbed her and tried to rape her. At that moment, the teenager shouted for help saying ‘please save me’ and was able to run away by biting in the hand of a miscreant.

It is learnt that today on 9 September 2020 the locals have organized a protest procession and gathering to protest the attempted rape and demanded the arrest and punishment of the culprits.
