Attack on Pujomandap in Comilla, Unity council demands arrest and punishment of miscreants

Hill Voice, 13 October 2021, Comilla: The reactionary communal forces have attacked various puja mandaps including Durga Puja Mandap organized on the north bank of Nanua Dighi in Comilla City Corporation area of Comilla district on the day of Mahasthami today on Wednesday (13 October 2021), with the aim of creating instability in the whole country by disrupting the Durga Puja festival.

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad has strongly condemned and protested this heinous communal attack by the reactionary communal forces. A press statement signed by Monindra Kumar Nath, joint general secretary of Oikya Parishad, on Wednesday said, as a result of this attack, the communal forces have given a thumbs up to the government’s declaration of zero tolerance.

The press release further said that the Presidents of the council Ushatan Talukder, former MP; Dr. Nimchandra Bhowmik, acting president and former ambassador and Nirmal Rojario and General Secretary Advocate Rana Dasgupta, in a statement to the newspaper, demanded immediate arrest of all those directly and indirectly involved in the Comilla incident and the punishment of the perpetrators be ensured through speedy trial under the Special Powers Act.
