Hill Voice, 4 May 2021, Rangamati: It has been alleged that a team of Bangladesh Army entered the house of a Jumma youth in Gaindya Union of Rajasthali Upazila under Rangamati Hill District and detained the youth by putting an arm into his home. Later, it has been reported that the army handed over the youth to the Rajasthali police station by falsely fabricating him as a member and collector of Jana Samhati Samiti.

The arrested youth’s name is Uthoaiching Marma (21), son of Prusathoyai Marma, village of Longadu Para, No.8 Ward, Gaindya Union. Uthoaiching Marma is known to be a motorcycle driver by profession.

According to local sources, a patrol team of the Bangalhalia sub-zone under the Kaptai Army Zone Daring Tigers went to Longadu Para village at around 11:30 pm on May 3, 2021 with two pick-ups. Shortly afterwards, members of the army stormed the Uthoaiching Marma’s home and detained Uthoaiching Marma by conspiratorially putting a country-made gun and ammunition into his home. At the time, when the members of the Uthoaiching Marma’s family, who were at home, tried to protest the army’s conspiratorial detention of Uthoaiching, the army threatened to kill them.

The members of the army then took Uthoaiching Marma in a vehicle to the Bangalhalia army camp. Later, the army handed over Uthoaiching Marma to the Rajasthali police station by falsely fabricating as a member and collector of Jana Samhati Samiti.

Meanwhile, a leader of Jana Samhati Samiti of Rajsthali Upazila, who did not want to be named, said that Uthoaiching Marma is not a member of any committee of Jana Samhati Samiti. ‘As far as I know, Uthoaiching Marma carries passengers on hired motorcycle’, he said.

He said the army has been cracking down on Jana Samhati Samiti activists and supporters in Rajasthali for a long time and implicating them in false cases, and carrying out a series of killings and extortions by the Mog Party terrorists.

It is to be noted that in Rajasthali, there have been allegations for a long time that the army has given shelter and support to the Mog Liberation Party (Mog Party) and used it against the pro-CHT Accord people and activists of Jana Samhati Samiti in Rajasthali. It is alleged that the army had earlier held secret meetings with the Mog Party and incited the Mog Party to assassinate the activists of Jana Samhati Samiti and its supporters.
