3 villagers arrested by the army in Ramgarh

Hill Voice, 12 July 2020, Khagrachari:  Three villagers have been arrested by the army from Goiya Para and Kalapani villages of Patachhara Union in Ramgarh Upazila of Khagrachhari.

According to local sources, on 11 July 2020 Saturday at midnight, the three villagers have been arrested putting two single-barreled guns and a receipt book with them.

The arrested are Noramya Chakma, 42, son of Mon Kumar Chakma and Milon Dhan Chakma, 35, son of Ubikhya Chakma from Goiya Para and Indra Chakma, 28, son of Asim Chakma from Kalapani village.

According to local sources, a group of army personnel from Sindukchhari zone and Batnatali sub-zone in six vehicles raided the village of Goiya Para and Kalapani villages at around 12 midnight on Saturday.

At that time, the army surrounded the village, searched the houses of the three villagers and later arrested them.

It is learnt that preparations are underway to hand over the detainees to the police station after interrogation at Manikchhari army camp.

An army contingent left the place after their arrest, but locals said another contingent was still in the area until the report was written on Sunday morning.

As a result, there is panic in the minds of the people of the area.
