Hill Voice, 7 September 2024, Special Correspondent: Recently, in the Bangalhalia Union of Rajasthali Upazila of Rangamati district, when the tyrannies of the army-backed Mog Party terrorists increased, especially after beating up an elderly shopkeeper for extortion in the Bangalhalia Bazar by the Mog Party terrorists, the local angry mob thrashed 2 terrorists of Mog Party and forced the terrorists to leave Bangalhalia setting fire to their dens.
But a few days later, it was alleged that the army were once again trying to bring back Mog Party terrorists to Bangalhalia. Not only this, there are also indications that they are deliberately conspiring to destabilize the situation by pretending the issue of JSS and creating an artificial conflict or crisis by using the Mog Party.
Local sources have found evidences of the army’s involvement and conspiracy behind the recent kidnapping of Bangalhalia Union Parishad Chairman Adumong Marma and the attempt to extort a ransom of Tk 1 crore by Mog Party terrorists.
It was known that 6 army vehicles left for Bengalhalia from Rajasthali Army sub-zone yesterday on September 6, 2024 in the morning. En route 3 vehicles returned from Gaindya Bazar (Bazar No. 5) and other 3 vehicles went to Bangalhalia Army Camp.
Eyewitnesses said there was also a white microbus in the middle of the 6-vehicle fleet. However, it is not clear who were in the microbus. The white microbus is believed to be carrying Mog Party members and recently abducted UP Chairman Adumong Marma.
Local sources also said that as soon as the convoy of army vehicles including the microbus reached Bangalhalia, an emergency meeting was organized by the army at the Bangalhalia army camp with the nearby villagers. In the meeting, the army said that to rescue the abducted chairman, they have to fight with the JSS (Jana Samhati Samiti). Therefore, people are urged to be prepared in case of any untoward situation.
On August 31, a Hill Voice report also alleged that the Army were conspiring to bring Mog Party terrorists back to Bangalhalia.
It is said that on August 30, in the morning, the commander of 56 EB of Bangalhalia camp, Senior Warrant Officer Md. Ashraf, called all the elected members and members of reserved seats of the Bangalhalia Union to the camp and held a meeting. At that time, the camp commander ordered the members to spread the word that JSS was involved in the abduction of the chairman and asked them to hold a rally against the JSS.
However, it is known that only the member of the No.2 Ward of the union and the current panel chairman Kamal gave their opinion in favour of the camp commander’s opinion, but all the other members disagreed.
On the other hand, behind the abduction of chairman Adumong Marma on August 25, around 3 pm, and the latest demand of Tk 1 crore ransom by Mog Party terrorists are also believed to have the connivance of the army.
Sources also said that before the abduction, chairman Adumong Marma went to Rajasthali to withdraw his allowances and later handed over the allowances to his assistant Kwashwehla Marma (retired policeman). After that, the communication between the chairman and the family members stopped. Later on August 29, the abducted chairman’s assistant Kwashwehla Marma handed over the chairman’s allowances to the chairman’s wife. But shortly after that, Md. Shaheen, Warrant Officer of Bangalhalia Army Camp, went to the Chairman’s house and took the allowances from the Chairman’s wife.
It should also be mentioned that last September 1, in the morning, 3 elected local public representatives of Rajasthali Upazila were called and demanded extortion through the mobile number +8801858039613 introducing themselves as JSS people. Later it is known from reliable sources that Mog Party terrorists were purposefully collecting extortion using the name of JSS using that number.
Besides, on August 20, two Mog Party collectors named Chingsu Marma (40) and Mandi Marma (35) went to Bangalhalia Bazar and beat up a shopkeeper named Aziz Saudagar (65), after which the agitated mob thrashed Chingsu Marma and Mandi Marma and injured them.
Witnesses said that in the incident, the army did not arrest two members of the Mog Party, Chingsu Marma and Mandi Marma, but on the contrary arranged a jeep to send them to the Chandraghona Mission Hospital for treatment.
