Hill Voice, 26 September 2020, Rangamati: An innocent villager has been abducted by an army-backed Reformist armed group from Longadu Upazila Sadar in Rangamati district. On the other hand, it has been alleged that the Headmen-Karbaris who came to take the office furniture provided by UNDP in Longadu Sadar were harassed by the Reformist terrorists in various ways.
According to local sources, on 26 September 2020 Saturday at 11.35 am, Sujyoti Chakma (30), son of late Mangal Mohan Chakma of Galachhari village in Longadu Union was abducted by Reformist armed terrorists from Longadu Bazar.
When contacted to Ananga Lal Chakma, president of Longadu thana Reformist group, he admitted the incident and advised them to contact tomorrow. The victim was not released until the report was written.
It is to be noted that Sujyoti Chakma is a very innocent person of the village. He supports his family by working. He came to Longadu Bazaar by boat in the morning to collect daily necessities (oil, salt, spices, vegetables) as it was a weekly market day on Saturday. From there, he was abducted by terrorists in broad daylight.
On the other hand, on 25 September 2020 Friday at 11.00 am there was a schedule for UNDP to provide some furniture to all Headmen and Karbaris of the upazila for running their own offices and keeping documents in the Longadu Upazila Parishad auditorium. Hence, almost all the Headmen and Karbaris of Langadu Upazila came to the Upazila Sadar to collect the said furniture.
At that time, the Reformist armed terrorists called some of the Headmen and Karbaris at area of Krishnacunda tree adjacent to the hospital, interrogated and threatened them and snatched the mobile phones of some of them by keeping them for about three hours there. However, Reformist director of Longadu area Amal Chakma later returned the mobiles.
According to local sources, Md. Tuhin and Md. Arsad were present there as the representatives of Longadu Zone of the army along with the Reformist armed members.
