Hill Voice, 18 August 2020, University of Chittagong: Tomorrow, 18 August 2020 the Randebhu Shilpi Gosthi, an Indigenous student’s cultural organization of Chittagong University. Tomorrow is the fourth founding anniversary. Due to the global Covid-19, this year’s 4th founding anniversary is going to be organized differently. Indigenous students studying at Chittagong University and various institutions will perform recitation of poem, song and dance in a two-day online cultural program on August 17 and 18. The event will be held every day from morning to evening.
On the occasion of the 4th founding anniversary Pratasha Chakma, vice-president of of Randebhu Shilpi Gosthi, said that the aim of the organization is to promote the livelihood of the indigenous people living in Bangladesh. We mainly took various songs, poems, dances and others activity in the mother tongue of the indigenous people as beside as participate in various social and initiative activities in the university campus.
Prantika Chakma, general secretary of the organization, said that apart from the students of Chittagong University, students from other educational institutions are also participating in the event. We have tried to bring out the diverse culture of indigenous students from different communities studying in the university through songs, poems and dances.
It is to be mentioned that on 1996, Randebhu has started as an organization for education, literature and culture by the Jumma Adivasi students of Chittagong University. From the very beginning, Randebhu has been promoting and practicing the culture of the Indigenous peoples. On 16th August 2016 Randebhu officially has started at the campus of Chittagong University with the group of indigenous youth.
