Hill Voice, 07 July 2019, Sunday, Dhaka:  A cultural organization of Jumma students named ‘Dhaka University Jum Literature and Cultural Society (DUJLCS)’ has organized a discussion meeting and cultural evening at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University where Dr. Mihir Lal Saha, provost of Jagannath Hall, as chief guest and Assistant Professor of AIUB Barendra Lal Tripura, President of Bangladesj Indigenous Student Action Forum (BISAF) Sulav Chakma, executive member of Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) Chibal Sangma as special guests were present.

The program was conducted by Nisoimong Marma and presided over by Kingsuk Chakma. Ratul Tanchangya, Assistant Organising Secretary of the organisation, in his inaugural speech, said that we the Jumma students want to introduce our own culture, heritage, literature and so on to the mainstream Bengali students in DU so that a cultural exchange and understanding can be built up among us. For that reason, we are conducting such kinds of cultural events and discussions.

Praising DU Jum Literature and Cultural Society, Barendra Lal Tripura as special guest said that you have duties for your roots as a student of DU. I know, this is your duty to organise such kinds of programs. I hope that our society will be revealed by your works.

Welcoming this program of Jumma students, Dr. Mihir Lal Saha as chief guest expressed that DU and Jagannat Hall are the example of diversity and the indigenous students are also the beauties of diversity in this institution as well as for the country. He assured to be with all these kinds of events of this organisation.

A cultural evening was held after the discussion meeting where the artists of this organisation were performed. A new committee of 31 members including Paresh Chakma as president, Josoya Dewan as general secretary and Ratul Tanchangya as organising secretary was formed in this program.
