A villager abducted by Reformist in Panchari, later released by ransom

Hill Voice, 30 April 2020, Khagrachari:  There has been reported that a Jumma villager abducted by army-backed Reformist group from the area of Pujgang of Panchari upazila under Khagrachari Hill District was released yesterday in exchange of ransom.

It is learnt that on 29 April 2020 a Jumma villager named Prakash Chakma (40), a resident of Karoyachari village of Pujgang area went to Khagrachari sadar in the morning. On that day, a group of Reformist terrorist led by Dipan Alo Chakma abducted Prakash Chakma when he reached Dewan Para area nearby Bhaihonchara army camp on the way back from Khagrachari.

Later, it is learnt that on 30 April 2020 abductor Dipan Alo Chakma demanded 1,00,000 Taka as ransom while relatives of Prakash Chakma contacted. After that, on that day, the relatives of the abducted, by collecting 50,000 Taka somehow, met with the abductor Reformists. After begging humbly, a lot by the relatives of abductors, Reformists handed over Prakash Chakma to his relatives in exchange of 50,000 Taka as ransom on that day.

It is learnt that Prakash is a village doctor of Pujgang area.
