Hill Voice, 31 August 2020, Bandarban: A Tripura widow has been gang-raped by 6 miscreants with the help of her boyfriend in Lama of Bandarban district. Not only that, at that time, the miscreants also snatched Tk. 30,000 from the raped woman.
The incident took place near the garden of a Clipton group in Purbachambi area of Ward No. 9 of Aziznagar union of the upazila on 30 August 2020 Sunday at around 1:00 am. The victim’s house is in Milanchari area of Bandarban.
According to local sources, Nurul Huda got acquainted with the woman through his mobile phone a few days ago. After the introduction, a love affair is created between the two. Nurul Huda also assured the victim woman of marriage.
Rabia Begum, wife of Dula Miah of Purbachambi Degrikhola area, said that after being raped, the woman came to Degrikhola area o around 3:00 pm and informed the matter to the locals of the area. Later the locals kept the woman in my custody for the night. In the morning, Lama police came and took the victim into their custody.
She further said that the woman informed me that Nurul Huda (28), son of late Ishaq Maulvi alias Deyal Maulvi of Puitta Para of Ward No. 7 of the neighboring Sorai Union, had brought her to show her the temptation to get married. They themselves introduced on mobile. Later, Nurul Huda and five other unidentified persons raped the woman inside the jungle of Clipton Group’s garden and took away Tk. 30,000 from her.
The victim, a Tripura woman, filed a case under the Women and Children Prepression Prevention Act with Lama Police Station on Monday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Lama police station Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, the woman was taken into police custody on 31 August Monday morning. We are trying to arrest the accused. He added that the woman was talking to more than one person. The idea is that it is an incident like gang rape.
Chairman of Aziznagar Union Parishad Jasim Uddin said, the incident took place in my union but the rapists are all residents of Sorai union. The incident is tragic. I demand that the woman get justice.
