Hill Voice, 11 May 2020, Khagrachhari: A Tripura motorcycle driver has been allegedly inhumanely beaten by an army-backed UPDF (Democratic) armed terrorist at Matiranga bazar of Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari district.

According to local sources, on May 11, 2020 Monday, a motorcyclist named Nukul Tripura (42), son of Bimal Tripura from Bailyachari area of Guimara Sadar Union under Guimara upazila of Khagrachhari district, was brutally tortured by army-backed UPDF (Democratic) terrorists.

This morning Nukul Tripura went to Matiranga market on a motorcycle with passengers as usual. From there, at 10 am, the UPDF (Democratic) terrorists stationed in Matiranga in protection of army forcibly took them away from Matiranga Bazaar.

It is learnt that Nukul Tripura was taken to a room near Matiranga fish market. The terrorists carried out inhuman physical torture various on him by interrogating various questions and demanded a ransom of BDT 20,000. The miscreants also threatened to kill him if he did not pay ransom.

Later, the local Karbari (village head) borrowed BDT 20,000 from a businessman of fish market and took victim from custody of miscreants by paying the ransom.
