2 Jumma youths picked up by army in Bandarban

Hill Voice, 10 October 2020, Bandarban: It has been alleged that a group of Bangladesh Army picked up two Jumma youths from Joymohan Para of Bandarban Sadar Union in Bandarban Hill District.

The two Jumma people picked up by the army are Indramohan Chakma (32), son of Gurul Chakma and Noramya Chakma (28), son of Lalon Chakma.

According to local sources, on 8 October 2020 at around 9.00 pm a group of Bangladesh Army came in a vehicle in Joymohan Para village and picked up the two Jummas from their respective houses. At that time, there were two masked men with the army, the sources said.

It is learnt that on 9 October 2020, the fathers of the detainees including Bandarban Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Sabukhoi Marma and nearby Kuhalong UP Chairman Sanuprue Marma went to the Bandarban Army Brigade office to look for the victims, but the brigade authority denied knowing about it.

Today, 10 October 2020, the families of the two men are supposed to try to meet with the brigade commander.

It may be mentioned that on 26 September 2020, at around 10:30 pm, a group of Bangladesh Army and Reformist terrorists abducted one Jumma villager named U Thowai Aoi Marma (54) from Rowangchhari in Bandarban Hill District. But till writing this report, the army has not released the person or even handed him over to police.

On 3 October 2020 another person named Ukyamang Marma (46), a resident of Chahla Para in Alekshyang Union of Rowangchhari upazila of Bandarban district, was picked up from his house by the army of Liraghai army camp under Rowangchhari upazila and taken to the camp. However, he was released later.
