10 Jumma students detained and beaten by army in Nanyachar, released later

Hill Voice, 20 August 2020, Rangamati: It has been reported that 10 Jumma students were detained by the army in Ghilachhari union of Nanyachar upazila. The incident took place at around 3:00 pm yesterday on 19 August 2020.

According to the victims, they started playing free fire games on their mobiles with a group of 10 Jumma students at the premises of the Ghilachhari High School. At that time a group of army from Ghilachhari army camp detained and took them to Ghilachhari camp.

10 Jumma students were taken to the camp and beaten. After questioning whether they do any politics? If they do, their condition is deplorable and they are threatened with death.

After questioning for about 3 hours, they was released at around 6:30 pm. The detained students are students of different colleges and schools.

9 students out of 10 have been identified as Sujol Chakma, Porantu Chakma, Topon Chakma, Bitu Chakma, Arjon Chakma, Topen Chakma, Josef Chakma, Bilton Chakma and Ronju Chakma.

The students who were beaten severely are now in fear and panic. They told Hill Voice that they were not members of any political party, yet they were terrified of why they had taken them and beaten them. We do not know what will happen in the future?
