UPDF (Prasit) releases Robi network employees in exchange for 6 crore taka ransom

Hill Voice, 19 September 2025, Special Reporter: It is learnt that the anti-Accord UPDF (Prasit group) terrorists have released 3 employees of Robi Mobile Network Company in exchange for 6 crore taka ransom and extortion after kidnapping them about 7 and a half months ago. Meanwhile, the issue of the kidnappers safely collecting the ransom from Chittagong has raised various questions.

The day before yesterday (17 September), after receiving 3 crore takas in cash, the kidnappers released the three abducted people from a residential hotel in the Agrabad area of Chittagong.

It is worth mentioning that on February 4, 2025, a group of UPDF (Prasit) terrorists kidnapped Robi Mobile Network Company tower operator Bikash Chakma (48), Robi’s Manikchari Upazila technician Md. Ismail Mian Babu and Abre Marma from Pujgang area of Panchari upazila under Khagrachari district. After the kidnapping, they demanded a huge ransom. At that time, they even cut the wires of various mobile towers in Panchari area and shut down the network.

After extensive bargaining between the UPDF (Prasit) terrorists and the representatives of Robi Mobile Network Company, the UPDF released the abductees in exchange for a total of 6 crore takas for the ransom.

It is learnt that at the time of release, the UPDF representative received 3 crore in cash and promised to pay 1.5 crore takas from the remaining 3 crore taka by September 25 and the remaining 1.5 crore in phases.

After their release, the abducted persons were reportedly under the supervision of Robi Company representatives in the Chittagong area that day (September 17). It is reported that Robi Company representatives are expected to take the victims from Chittagong and hand them over to their families yesterday or today (September 19).

Meanwhile, the issue of collecting a huge ransom from Chittagong safely after being kidnapped by UPDF (Prasit) terrorists for about 7 and a half months has raised questions in the minds of many. According to them, this kidnapping and ransom collection is a drama of extortion jointly carried out by the army and UPDF.

A resident of Khagrachari Sadar, who did not want to be named, said that on the one hand, the army harass the common people in the name of army operations. However, despite all these operations, the UPDF (Prasit) safely detains the abductees and releases the abductees from the Chittagong area itself in exchange for a ransom of crores of taka. According to him, this would never have been possible without the involvement of the army and the intelligence department.
