UPDF (Prasit) releases Nanda Kumar Chakma in exchange for ransom

Hill Voice, 23 August 2025, Rangamati: It has been reported that terrorists of the anti-CHT Accord UPDF (Prasit) have finally released former Union Parishad member Nanda Kumar Chakma (58), who was kidnapped from Longadu, in exchange for a ransom of 70,000 BDT.

Today (August 23) at around 3 pm, abducted Nanda Kumar Chakma was released from the house of Buddha Kumar Chakma, a former member of Ward No.3 of Longadu Union in Longadu Upazila of Rangamati district.

It is worth noting that at around 10 pm the day before yesterday (August 21), a group of UPDF armed terrorists led by commander Chirajyoti Chakma alias Prabal and Kalaiye Chakma alias Mongprue alias Palak abducted Nanda Kumar Chakma from his home in Kattali Kukichara village of Longadu.

After the kidnapping, UPDF terrorists demanded a ransom of 1 lakh BDT from the victim’s family.

Nanda Kumar Chakma is a former Union Parishad member of Ward No.1 of Longadu Union.
