Hill Voice, 28 November 2025, Bandarban: Myanmar’s Rohingya militant organization Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) has been accused of harassing three elderly Tanchangya women of Garjanbonia Para, Reju Mouza, Ghumdhum Union, Naiksyangchhari Upazila, Bandarbanar district, by tying them up with ropes for 4 hours.
The Tanchangya women who were detained are: 1, Aungkraching Tanchangya (60), w/o Kanu Tanchangya, 2, Malapu Tanchangya (45), w/o Bengya Tanchangya and 3, Malaiche Tanchangya (42), w/o Pulaang Tanchangya.
Local sources have informed that on Tuesday (November 25) at around 10:00 am, the three Tanchangya women from Garjanabonia Para went to bathe in a canal 200 yards east of Garjanabonia Para when ARSA armed members caught them and detained them for the whole day.
Of the three, Malaiche Tanchangya was beaten up. While abducting them, a black cloth was tied over their eyes. It is learnt that the other two were taken away with their hands tied behind their backs. After harassment and torture, the ARSA terrorists released the three Tanchangya women in the evening.
The abductors were 10 ARSA members. They had two automatic weapons in their hands.
It is worth noting that earlier, November 18, 2025, ARSA armed members abducted and tried to abduct 5 Tanchangya workers from Garjanabonia Para adjacent to Ward No. 8 of Ghumdhum Union.
The Tanchangya victims of the abduction attempt are- 1. Jinyau Tanchangya (50), s/o late Aungjain Tanchangya, 2. Aungchimang Tanchangya (47), s/o Chinglau Tanchangya, 3. Mangpuching Tanchangya (50), s/o Unknown, 4. Barikya Tanchangya (25), s/o Mongchaching Tanchangya, and 5. Lamangcha Tanchangya (22), s/o Uchingla Tanchangya.
It is known that the Tanchangya villagers went to work as daily laborers to collect bamboo for Abdu Salam’s betel farm on the side of Abdu Kalabagan of Hijlya Canal in Garjanbania Para. When they reached the betel field with bamboo at around 4 pm, 5 armed ARSA members suddenly emerged from the jungle and apprehended the Tanchangya day laborers.
ARSA armed members tried to capture 2 young people from among 5 Tanchangya villagers. But the wife of the owner of the betel farm said that if they were abducted, they would be blamed and there would be problems. After much pleading by the wife of the owner of the betel farm, the ARSA members later released the 5 Tanchangyas including the two youths.
It is also worth mentioning that on October 8, 2025, a Jum cultivator named Suman Tanchangya was kidnapped from Gorjan Bonia, adjacent to Ward No. 8 of Ghumdhum Union of Naikkhyongchari Upazila, and on September 23, 2025, another villager named Wamong Tanchangya was kidnapped from Bhalukia of Ghumdhum Union. Their whereabouts have not yet been found.
Earlier, on May 16, 2024, two Tanchangya villagers named Chaila Mong Chakma (29) and Kyamongkho Tanchangya (25) were abducted by Rohingya militants from the sluice gate area of Hoi Kyang Naf River in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district while they were fishing for crabs. They have not been traced yet.
