Hill Voice, October 21, 2025, Chittagong: The 12th meeting of the Task Force on Repatriation and Rehabilitation of India-returnee Tribal Refugees and Identification and Rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP), scheduled to be held at the Chittagong Circuit House on October 22, has been postponed.
This instruction was issued in a notice signed by the Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong and Member Secretary of the Task Force, Dr. Md. Ziauddin, on Sunday, October 19.
The notice said that the 12th meeting of the Task Force, scheduled to be held at the Chittagong Circuit House Conference Room under the chairmanship of Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma on Wednesday, October 22 at 11 am has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
The notice further said that the next date and time of the meeting will be announced in due course.
The meeting was scheduled to be held on October 22 at the Chittagong Circuit House under the chairmanship of Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma. But since the announcement of the meeting, various organizations of Bengali settlers supported by the army have been trying to foil the meeting through various conspiracies.
Earlier, the Parbatya Chattagram Chhatra Parishad (PCCP) announced to resist the meeting of the CHT Land Commission and submitted a memorandum through the Rangamati District Commissioner on October 14 with eight-point demands. The next day, they called for a strike at a press conference on October 19. Following this, metting Land Commission was postponded. Hence, when the announcement of the postponement of the meeting was received, the protesters withdrew the strike.
