Hill Voice, 22 June 2025, Bandarban: It has been reported that 2 Jumma women were sexually assaulted and 3 women were tortured in a military operation conducted by the Bangladesh Army in Tongkabati Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila under Bandarban district.
On June 20, a group of Bangladesh Army led by Major Md. Manjur Morshed, PSC, Deputy Commander of Alikadam Army Zone, conducted a raid in some Jumma villages of Tongkabati Union in Bandarban Sadar and arrested 9 innocent Chakma and Tripura villagers and later implicated them in false cases and handed them over to the police.
On the same day, while conducting a raid in another village called Muktajan Tripura Para in Tongkabati Union, at around 4 am, members of the said army group sexually assaulted two Tripura women. One of them is said to be 32 years old and the other is 38 years old. It is alleged that the soldiers forcibly touched various parts of the women’s body, including their breasts.
It was also alleged that on that day, the army personnel forced three more pregnant women of Muktajan Tripura Para to stand outside their homes and get wet in the rain for a long time. The victims are: (1) Shrimati Tripura (26), wife of Bidyaram Tripura Rocky; Supati Tripura (27), wife of Augustine Tripura and Bazarung Tripura (35), wife of Anil Tripura.
