Hill Voice, 30 March 2023, Rangamati: It is alleged that at least 5 people were detained and interrogated in the camp along with massive search of 2 houses by Bangladesh Army in Jurachari of Rangamati district in the name of patrol operation.
According to local sources, on last Tuesday (March 28, 2023), a group of army of Jokhkha Bazar Army Camp and 1610 Camp under Zone 2 Bir Banjogichara Zone and Zone Headquarters led by zone deputy commander Major Md. Shafiqul PSC conducted a search operation in Chumochumi and Chakpatighat village of Ward No. 6 of Banjogichara Union.
At that time, at 3 pm army personnel took a total of 5 people including Russell Chakma (21), son of Nandilal Chakma and Raju Chakma (19), son of Dayal Chakma from their home to 1610 camp and were extensively interrogated. Among the interrogatories are where Sumit Chakma, Palash Chakma, Pon Chakma, Bom Chakma, Barun Chakma and Subarna Chakma live and where are the terrorists stayed etc.
On the other hand, it is alleged that yesterday Wednesday (March 29, 2023), before dawn at 4 am, army personnel surrounded Chakpatighat village and conducted extensive searches in two houses of Nirmal Chakma, son of Motilal Chakma and Barun Chakma, son of Premlal Chakma in Ward No. 7 of the same union.
As of writing this report, it is said that the army personnel are currently staying in Samira Para, Ghilatuli and Chumochumi villages.
