Hill Voice, 29 May 2023, Rangamati: It has been alleged that a fourth grade Jumma school girl was sexually assaulted and attempted to rape by a policeman working at Sonali Bank Limited in Jurachari Upazila under Rangamati Hill District.
Last May 27, 2023, this incident happened near Sonali Bank in Jurachari Upazila Sadar at around 5 pm. It is reported that the accused policeman Rabiul Hossain has been suspended and detained and taken to Rangamati district headquarters.
According to local sources, on May 27, 2023, around 5 pm, a policeman working at Sonali Bank Limited, Rabiul Hossain tried to forcefully grab the Jumma School girls while they were returning home from tuition. Policeman Rabiul Hossain was able to catch the victim and the other classmates managed to escape. At one point, the policeman tried to forcefully rape the Jumma schoolgirl who was caught and tortured the girl by applying pressure on her genitals.
When the victim child became physically ill today 29 May 2023, the girl was brought to Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Medical Assistant Surgeon Dr Asif Khan of the health complex stated in his report that the girl was suffering physically and mentally since the incident.
The victim is a resident of Labor Para village of No.2 Ward of No.2 Banajogichara Union of Jurachari Upazila.
In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Executive Officer) Jitendra Kumar Nath said that there is no tolerance in any situation, appropriate legal action will be taken.
Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Alamgir Hossain said that the accused has already been temporarily suspended. He has been locked up in the district as per the instructions of the Rangamati Superintendent of Police.
Besides, it is said that Circle ASP has already left for Jurachari to talk to the eyewitnesses and victims of the incident.
As of the writing of this report, the case has not yet been filed. However, the victim’s family members are said to file a written case as soon as possible.
