Jumma-Bengali clash over land dispute in Lama, 3 injured

Hill Voice, 7 October 2020, Bandarban: Jumma-Bangali clashes erupted over land dispute in Aunghlari Karbari Para area near Yangcha Bazar of Faisyakhali Union under Lama Upazila in Bandarban district, leaving three people injured on both sides. The incident took place on 7 October 2020 Wednesday, at 11:00 am.

According to local sources, all the injured are residents of Aunghlari Karbari Para near Yangcha Bazar in Faisyakhali Union of Lama Upazila. The injured have been identified as Chhamu Marma (60), son of Aunghlari Marma, Aungmashing Marma (30), wife of Mongchai Marma and Md. Shamsuddoha (25), son of late Maulvi Yunus.

The doctor on duty in the emergency department of Lama Upazila Health Complex said that the condition of Chhamu Marma is very serious. On the other hand, the condition of Md. Shamsuddoha is bad. So, they were referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after primary treatment.

Shahiduzzaman, a UP member of Faisyakhali Union, confirmed the incident and said that there has been a long-running dispute over land between Shamu Marma and Shamsuddohar of Aunghlari Para.

According to local sources, Shamsuddoha has been trying to occupy Chamu Marma for a long time. Today, at one stage of the altercation over land dispute, both sides have engaged in clash.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lama Police Station Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, “I have heard the news of a clash in Aunghlari Para in Yangcha Bazar area of ​​Faisyakhali Union due to a land dispute.” No party has yet lodged a complaint in this regard. If the allegation is received, necessary legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
