Hill Voice, 13 December 2023: It has been alleged that a vehicle carrying Buddhist monks was waylaid for 15-20 minutes by KNF terrorists on their way back from a funeral ceremony held at Niakshay Para of Paindu Union in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban district.

According to local source, some Buddhist monks from Rowangchari Central Jetban Vihara went to the venue to attend the funeral ceremony to be held on 10 and 11 December 2023.

After the ceremony, on Tuesday (December 12) while the priests were on their way back from Ruma Sadar to Rowangchari Central Jetaban Vihara, an armed group of KNF terrorists known as Bawm party halted the car at a place between the check post no. 1 and 2 (nearer to the check post no 2).

Reportedly, later the terrorists took the car into the jungle and released it after being confined about 15-20 minutes.

It is to be noted that since the meeting with the Peace Committee, the KNF terrorists have continued to harass the local Marma, Tripura, Tanchangya, Mro and Khumis with reckless extortion, kidnap, beating, looting. One of the main conditions of the consensus between KNF and Army on November 5 meeting was that the both parties would not attack each other during the dialogue. Taking the advantage of it, the KNF terrorists have been reckless.
