Hill Voice, 14 November 2023, Rangamati: Extensive army patrol operations have been reported in Nanyachar, and Balukhali Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila under Rangamati hill district. It is learnt this army moves have caused widespread fear and panic among the locals.
A group of army numbering 20/25 conducted a patrol operation at Barapol Para (village) in Nanyachar Upazila of Rangamati district on 13 November 2023. Then, they stationed at Barapol Para Govt Primary School.
From there, dividing two groups, a team numbering 10/12 personnel conducted patrolling operation inside the Badramachara village in Barapol Para. During the operation, they harassed the villagers interrogating various questions. Around evening, the army returned to the school and stayed at night. The next day, on 14 Nov. 23, the army reportedly went back to Nanyachar Zone around 9 am.
In addition, (on 14 Nov. 2023) an army group of 15 personnel led by Subedar Md Shahadad from Marichyabil army camp in Balukhali union of Rangamati hill district patrolled in Gargajyachari area of Balukhali union. Then, at 12 pm, with bag and baggage, they went to Gargajyachari Puraton Govt Primary School and stayed there.
On the other hand, another group of army numbering 20/25 led by a Subedar from Subalong army camp conducted patrolling operation at Banga building area in Balukhali Union of Rangamati hill district around 3 pm, on the same day. Then, they have stationed at Banga building, and till writing this report, they are reported to be there.
